My formal studio art training ended with an introductory course in high school. I majored in Art History at Dartmouth College and received my M.D. from Harvard Medical School. I have been practicing pediatrics in Brunswick, Maine since 1974 and have published 4 books on a variety of topics for parents.
I began carving birds when I was eleven and have continued carving with decade long lapses until the summer of 2006 when I began painting. Currently, I am using a water-based acrylic gouache. This is applied to 1/8th inch Russian birch plywood panel that I construct myself. The "floating" frames are also handmade of waxed poplar.
My resume includes juried shows at the Chocolate Church Center for the Arts in Bath, the Tidemark Gallery in Waldoboro, the Crooker Gallery at the Topsham Public Library (1st place in watercolor) and RiverArts in Damariscotta.
For many summers a large selection of my paintings was on display at the Dolphin Marina Restaurant in South Harpswell, Maine. While I still have few painting still hanging there, this blog is the place to go to see my work. If you are interested in purchasing a painting contact me by email.
Recently, I have doing less paintings for sale and more documenting my travels which I intend for the moment to keep for myself. However, keep watching the blog.
